We don’t fell trees. We recover logs from urban trees that are already down or scheduled for removal by professional tree services, and turn them into lumber at The Mill.

Before you call

Call us before the tree comes down.

Our process has specific log requirements. If we hear from you before your arborist removes the tree, we can ask for what we need.

These details help us decide whether a tree is suitable and whether we can reach it safely.

  • A photo of the tree as it is now
  • Where the tree is, ideally within 15 miles of Pittsburgh’s East End
  • How we’d reach it with equipment: overhead hazards, narrow roads, steep hillsides or other obstacles
  • Photos of the area around the tree
  • A photo or sketch of the whole tree, with the trunk (the butt log) marked
